CLUB NEWS

Friday 19 July 2024

Dear members,

OUR CAFE

As members would be aware, the Club recently advertised for expressions of interest from persons to run/manage/operate our café.

We received several impressive proposals, including some from our own Club members. However, after careful consideration, the Board has decided that managing the café internally is the best approach for the time being.

This decision allows food prices to be keenly priced and also offers greater flexibility for the Club to host all types of events. Additionally, to enhance service to members, it has been decided to trial opening

Kimbies on Saturdays. This will be reviewed over time and its continued operation will depend on patronage.

So say hi to Johnny and Kerrie who have been employed to run the cafe - they welcome the patronage of outside groups and non-members.

During winter the cafe will not open on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. However the Golf Shop has snacks available and the Bar is able to provide pizzas, chips and dim sims.

The Board appreciates the time and effort from those who submitted proposals.

LITHIUM BATTERIES

The Club received correspondence from Golf Australia today advising that a walk behind lithium battery spontaneously combusted, despite the battery not being charged or connected to the battery unit at the time.

While the charging of walk behind lithium batteries is no longer allowed at PIGC, we urge all members to be vigilant while they charge their batteries at home.

Click here to read more and to watch the CCTV footage of the event unfolding.

GARDEN BED

Now that the safety net on the 1st tee has been installed, the garden bed near the tee will be trimmed to waist height. This will involve removing some of the larger plants. This will be a first step in improving the line of sight for members approaching the 1st tee and for our ground staff when they cross the 1st fairway. After these works are undertaken, a further decision will be made on whether to retain the garden bed in its reduced form or remove it entirely.

MAINTENANCE SHED

Recently, there have been instances of members and the public entering the maintenance area where our ground staff are based, either walking or in their carts. There is heavy machinery in use in this area and it poses significant safety risks. For the safety of all, this area is OOB and we ask golfers and members of the public avoid this area.
