MEN'S CAPTAINS REPORT I must start by thanking all the 2023/2024 committee members who have served on the committee over the past year. Your time and input are greatly appreciated and should be acknowledged by the membership. There have been several challenges, which in turn have resulted in necessary changes to our golf at PIGC. Our aim is to provide the best solutions with regards to all our members, having to consider, increased membership affecting both Saturday and Midweek golf, sufficient time for our ground staff to prepare the course to a standard expected by the membership, to create sufficient course time for ongoing course works on our greens. None of our changes are ever set in concrete, we are always looking for the next improvement. Previous correspondence has informed the membership that we require at least one new nominee for a committee member for 2025, to replace Barry Grazules, who unfortunately after three years on the committee can no longer commit his time to the position. The club thanks Barry for all his time and efforts whilst serving on the match committee. Athol Hill has nominated for the committee, proposed by Owen Jolly and seconded by Peter Innes. All members do need to consider whether they can contribute to the committee either now or in the future. The basis of the current committee has many years of experience but cannot continue indefinitely and requires new blood to learn the ropes and eventually maybe lead the golf at PIGC into the future. If there is not a gradual change then I can envisage a year when the committee will require major surgery. I wish to thank all the members who have either volunteered their time or have represented PIGC in the past twelve months, course workers, Monday boys, Pennant players Captains and coordinators, Greens committee members, the Lady Captain and Ladies committee, Ryan and the ground staff, administration, golf, bar and cafe staff, the PIGC Board and PIGC Manager. To all sponsors however big or small. Thank you all. The AGM starts at 9.30am. Remember a quorum of 40 is required before the meeting can start. The shotgun start for golf will begin approximately 30mins from the completion of the meeting. Envisaged start maybe 10.30am. This may vary if voting is required. It would be good to see more members attend the meeting but for those that are unable to attend to ensure they are at the course to start golf by 10.15am. Last year we were ready to start and waiting for late members to arrive. This year we will start when those present are ready to tee off. Phil Ellard Men's Captain Oct 2024 |
