CLUB NEWS

Friday 18 October 2024

Dear members,

MENS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP REVIEW

Following the 2023 Club Championships and some inclement weather, a request was received by the match committee to investigate alternate dates. Considering other events (Pennant etc), the only possible time would be during February. A close eye was kept on the course conditions over February 2024 and unfortunately there were concerns over green conditions and some dry fairways, enough to prevent an immediate change of dates. An instant decision was not required as the 2024 championships would still be held in November anyway. A change could not be implemented until Feb 2025. Weather conditions in November 2024 may prompt further considerations to alter dates.

The above considerations became a catalyst to also review the way the current club championships are conducted re registrations and participation. Members drop out for assorted reasons at various times during the championships and cause several administrative headaches. We want the members who commit to the championships to be guaranteed a starting time. The Mi-Club software enables us to streamline the process, as follows.

1.) Each Male member to decide Yes or No whether they wish to enter the championships.

2.) If yes, the first weeks' timesheet (booking in for Saturday November 16th) will be available for bookings 7 days early*. However, at this stage on entering your name you will be requested to pay $30 per person (the comp fee for the 3 Saturdays of the championships thereby committing to the championships). If you enter 4 names as a group, you will be prompted to pay for all 4 players at $30 each). $30 will cover all grades, (A & B do not pay a comp fee on their Sunday Round). If you cannot pay online, you can register and prepay in the golf shop during this time. If you decide to pull out of the championships early, there will be no reimbursement of the remaining comp fees paid, unless the extreme valid reason is accepted by the match committee. (Refer * at 6 for more information)

3.) If No, the timesheet will be available at 7am on Tuesday 11th November when you can register for the daily competition as normal, however you will be required to pay the $10 competition fee on registration. (This will only occur on the first week Nov 16th). The reason is if we set the booking fee at $0, and you pay $0, the system allocates a green dollar sign which would reflect that you have paid when in fact you have NOT.

4.) The timesheet for the second Saturday will open as normal 5 days early. Those players who chose to enter the championships will have their bookings added prior to the normal opening time. The times allocated will be same as per the first round unless requested otherwise. Members who have chosen not to enter the championships will register as normal and pay on the day as normal on both the second and third Saturdays.

5.) On the final week, the leaders in each grade will be seeded and will be entered into the timesheet. The unseeded championship players will also be added to the timesheet early as per weeks one and two unless requested otherwise. Those members not in the championship will register for the Saturday daily competition as per normal, 5 days early.

6.) * The Mi-club software determines the time of opening a timesheet when it is connected to any golf fee charges. Please read below for actual times available when booking in for golf on Saturday November 16th only.

For members entering the championships. The timesheet will be available to register from 6pm on Saturday 9th November on payment of the registration fee as above. You will NOT be able to register without payment. Members can still register at any time during the week.

For members NOT entering the championships. The timesheet will be available to register for the Saturday daily competition at 7.00 am on Tuesday 12th November. For this one week a payment of the $10 competition fee will be required to register, for 18-hole men only.
